Start-ups Portfolio

EIT RawMaterials supports the following start-ups

JPM Silicon

Germany

Recycling solar cell waste from end-of-life solar modules to silicon metal

We recycle silicon from end-of-life solar modules and provide the recycled silicon as a raw material to various industries. By 2030 around 1 Mio. tons of solar modules will be ready for recycling. By recycling silicon, we address the growing need for recycling of solar modules and can achieve the industry’s lowest carbon footprint in production of silicon as a raw material. Silicon is an essential raw material for our modern society and can be found in everyday products. Some examples are light-weight aluminum materials for packaging and car parts, silicones for cosmetic products, and of course high-purity silicon for computer chips and solar cells.

Keey Aerogel SAS – Aero-CDW

France

Recycled superinsulating aerogels

Aero-CDW proposes the creation of new value chains by recycling Construction and Demolition Waste (C&DW) for the production of highly added-value aerogel materials: a new nanoporous material with the best thermal insulation performance in ambient conditions, for energy-efficient buildings construction and refurbishment or other industrial applications.

Kerline

Italy

Manufacturing of keratin-based biomaterials and advanced keratin-based products

Kerline is an innovative start-up and a spin-off company of the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (ISOF) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Bologna.

Kobolde & Partners AB

Sweden

Software for process management

Kobolde & Partners performs pre-studies to assess the economic potential and viability of a project, identify potential areas of improvement and propose a development path. RAWMATMIX® is one of the products developed by Kobolde and is a cloud-based service for raw material optimisation dealing with metallurgical concepts like tramp elements, alloy recovery, slag properties and equilibria, dust generation, hot heel, slag carry over and more. RAWMATMIX® is used for burden calculations, recipe management, value-in-use calculations and finally as a tool for establishing a raw material strategy/practice.

MagnoTherm Solutions GmbH

Germany

World leading expertise in permanent magnets and magnetic cooling

Our technology, based on solid state materials and water, is capable of replacing standard gas compression cooling or heating solutions in compliance with current and future F-Gas regulation standards.

Mat4green Tech AB

Sweden

Recycling of critical metals and material technologies

Mat4Green Tech is an R&D company on recycling and material technologies. Mat4Green Tech works on providing innovative solutions to develop environmentally friendly recycling technologies, as well as supplying recovered materials to meet the materials demand of national and international industries. The start-up focuses on recycling critical metals (indium, nickel, cobalt, etc.) in the form of fine particles while developing environmentally friendly processes with a target of zero carbon footprint and thus solve some of the issues within sustainable production.

Mecorad GmbH

Germany

A vision for loss-free steel & metals forming

Mecorad’s radar-based measurement solutions master harsh conditions and deliver robust and reliable geometric in-line information of the hot-formed products in realtime. The start-up’s AI-based machine learning services then deliver the customer a solution to optimise their processes to achieve a better competitive position.

MEFFA LAB

Finland

New cost-effective method of geochemical survey based on Multi-Element Fine Fraction Analysis

MEFFA LAB provides customers exploration companies and geological survey institutions with complex MEFFA-based soil/sediment geochemical surveys. The start-up’s service is tailored to the customers specific needs and depends on the local landscape, geological environment, type targeted mineralisation, scale of the project, etc.

MetalCirc oy

Finland

From waste ash to value metals

MetalCirc has invented technology that focuses on neutralising waste ash and recycling the valuable materials contained in the ash. MetalCirc specialty is creating useful nanomaterials from the combustion ash.
