As a partnership organisation, EIT RawMaterials focus is on continuously strengthening the Innovation Community by networking and collaborating with various stakeholders. EIT RawMaterials comprises of more than 120 core and associate partners and over 180 project partners of leading businesses, universities, research & technology organisations from over 20 EU countries. Partners of EIT RawMaterials are active across the entire raw materials value chain; from exploration, mining and mineral processing to substitution, recycling and circular economy. They collaborate on finding new, innovative solutions to secure supplies and improve the raw materials sector in Europe.
EIT RawMaterials aims to significantly enhance innovation in the raw materials sector by sharing of knowledge, information and expertise: Entrepreneurs, Start-ups and SMEs receive funding and support through our partner network and collaboration activities.
There are six regional Innovation Hubs in Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Poland and Sweden, called Co-Location Centers (CLCs) that represent different regional ecosystems connecting industry, research and education.
Becoming a partner. Value proposition and partner benefits.
EIT RawMaterials value proposition to its partners consists of the support of innovation and education projects from development to commercialisation. Support includes co-creation and open innovation involving start-ups, acceleration, go-to-market strategy, professional education, investor outreach and dissemination. All partners receive access to the digital collaboration and networking platform, get access to networking and matchmaking events having an opportunity to meet experts from the industry, research and education.
EIT RawMaterials partners benefit from preferred access to the network and respective servicing components. Interested parties can choose amongst three different partner levels:
- Core Partner: Full access to strategy and governance
- Associate Partner: Shared access to strategy and governance
- Project Partner: Shared access to strategy and governance
The activities carried out by EIT RawMaterials and its Partners are defined in an annual Business Plan, which is approved at an annual General Assembly and submitted to the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). EIT RawMaterials holds an annual Call for Innovation Projects for its Partners to submit project proposals for the Business Plan, in the fields of innovation projects, education projects, RIS (Regional Innovation Scheme) and internationalisation. EIT RawMaterials creates a unique opportunity for partners to network and find potential project partners prior to the opening of the Call for Innovation Projects, which usually opens early October with the deadline of end February, during the annual Brokerage event. Partners greatly benefit from the EIT RawMaterials digital collaboration, networking, news, data platform, InfoCenter, which they receive access to.

EIT RawMaterials partner consortia enables the creation of new European networks, innovation and entrepreneurial activity across the entire raw materials value chain. EIT RawMaterials supports the most promising and effective solutions, which leads to an increase in resource efficiency, a reduction of environmental impacts and increased security of supply of materials that serve societal needs. This strengthens the European industrial competitiveness and contributes to increased employment and growth.
Types of partnership
The Core, Associate and Project partners are selected based on the shared mission to enable sustainable competitiveness of the European minerals, metals and materials sector along the value chain by driving innovation, education and entrepreneurship. Each partner pays an annual membership fee and is a voting member of the association at the General Assembly which takes place twice a year.

EIT Regional Innovation Scheme
The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) is a structured programme to support the integration of the Knowledge Triangle (connecting partners from leading business, research and education) and increase the innovation capacity in areas and regions in Europe not directly benefiting from the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs).
We currently work with partners in the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine.
Country and regional activities focus on professional education, ideation and acceleration, inter-regional activities include capacity-building, scaling and demonstration.
