This call aims to support organisations across Eastern, Southern, and other underrepresented parts of Europe— to grow local ecosystems, strengthen skills, and deliver real innovation in the raw materials sector.
What is the EIT RIS?
The EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) is an EU programme that supports countries and regions with lower innovation performance. It provides funding, expertise, and networks to help organisations:
- Strengthen local innovation ecosystems
- Build skills and capacity
- Launch new products, services, and business models
What are we looking for?
Capacity Building Projects
Projects developing skills, institutions, and regional networks.
Activities: training, education, policy support, ecosystem strengthening
Duration of project: 1–3 years
Funding: Up to 100% of eligible costs covered
Innovation Projects
Projects developing new technologies, products, services, or business models in the raw materials value chain.
Activities: exploration, sustainable mining, processing, circularity, recycling, substitution
Duration of project: 1-3 years
Funding: Co-funding required (exact % based on TRL and project type)

Calling on Universities & research centers, Start-ups, SMEs, large companies as well as NGOs, government agencies, public institutions.
Receive between €300,000–€500,000 per project for Capacity Building or Innovation projects.
Projects receive proposal guidance & matchmaking access to Europe’s largest raw materials innovation network.
What are the minimum admission criteria?
- Minimum 2 organisations from different RIS-eligible countries
- Must represent at least two sides of the knowledge triangle: education, research, and business
- Lead partner must be an EIT RawMaterials Core or Associate Partner, or a linked third party
