Identify and differentiate the steps in developing lightweight products. Design, construct and fully utilize the lightweight potential.

Lightweight Professional 3-day course starts in September 2019

Whether in the field of machine engineering, transportation or development – lightweight design always stays on trend. The reason for this is the resource and financial efficiency of lightweight design. However, when it comes to implementing lightweight projects, one may find many gaps in companies’ basic knowledge. These gaps prevent a successful mastering of lightweight design.

That’s why within the framework of the LightRight innovation project (Materials for Lightweight design – how to treat them right) the Fraunhofer institutes IFAM, IWKS and LBF as well as the Fraunhofer Academy in collaboration with the EIT RawMaterials and European universities and research institutes conceptualized a 3-day Lightweight Professional course. The course is aimed at professionals in industry whose work involves the planning and manufacturing of lightweight products. Course content includes strategies in view of various materials and their specifics, as well as their life-cycle assessment (LCA) and life-cycle-costing (LCC). Participants will gain competencies in using specific lightweight material in the correct way to fully utilize their lightweight potential.

This 3-day course will include a combination of e-learning and a classroom learning. After successful completion of the module and the examination, participants will gain professional certifications according to EN ISO 17024.

The first Lightweight Professional course takes place in Munich on 3-5 September 2019. The course fee is 1,200 Euro and the examination fee is 195 Euro. Advanced and expert level modules will be launched in 2020.
