EIT RawMaterials at the 11th European Innovation Summit

Dr Andreas Klossek, Interim CEO, EIT RawMaterials, will present our position paper on the European Green Deal. This keynote speech is part of the conference session “How the EIT KICs will shape the future of innovation in Europe” that will take place at the European Parliament, on 4 February.

The event will set out the EIT’s vision, key objectives and added value in the European innovation landscape in light of Horizon Europe and the new Multiannual Financial Framework. It will also present how the EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities will contribute to the priorities set by the new European Commission, such as the European Green Deal. The discussion is chaired by MEPs Maria da Graça Carvalho and Maria Matias and open to all interested MEPs.

Investing in research and innovation is investing in Europe’s future, in knowledge and new solutions to maintain and improve the European way of life. That is why the European Commission has set a new level of ambition to deepen Europe’s innovation capability, provide lasting prosperity and preserve our global competitiveness. Horizon Europe is the most ambitious research and innovation programme ever and will keep the EU at the forefront of global research and innovation.

Horizon Europe will support European Partnerships to deliver on global challenges and industrial modernisation through concerted R&I effort with the Member States, private sector, foundations and other stakeholders. For the K4I community and in particular, those that are part of the planned European Partnerships, in the short term the further negotiations until the adoption and in the long-term the implementation of Horizon Europe, are of major concern. For this reason, the topics covered by the 11 EIS Programme are closely linked to the work of the European Partnerships and Missions under the headings of ‘Digital Transformation’, ‘Greening’ and ‘Innovation’.

Participants will discuss remaining issues related to the shaping of the final set of European Partnerships, internationalization, the future of the EIT KICs including their role in strengthening innovation ecosystems. A press briefing with convincing messages « Why we need a substantial budget increase in Horizon Europe » is organized prior to the Opening Ceremony on 3 February at 18:00.
