IntelliSense.io: Integrating AI into Europe’s Critical Materials Future

IntelliSense.io, a UK-based industrial AI pioneer and part of the EIT RawMaterials startup portfolio, will debut at the Innovation Village at the EIT RawMaterials Summit 2025. Their mission is clear: to enhance mining efficiency, sustainability, and safety by enabling data-driven decision-making for both machines and people.

As Europe ramps up efforts to secure access to critical raw materials and transition to a circular economy, the focus is shifting toward technologies that can enhance efficiency and transform how resources are extracted, processed, and reused.

Stepping up to the challenge – IntelliSense.io, a UK-based industrial AI pioneer that is part of the EIT RawMaterials startup portfolio, making its debut at the Innovation Village in this year’s EIT RawMaterials Summit.

“We chose to participate in this year’s Innovation Village because it’s one of Europe’s premier gatherings for innovation in the raw materials sector,” Sam G Bose, Founder and CEO of IntelliSense.io explains. “It brings together key stakeholders from across the value chain – from mining to recycling – where we are positioned, and offers a unique platform for collaboration, learning, and visibility.”

IntelliSense.io has a clear mission: to enhance mining efficiency, sustainability, and safety by enabling data-driven decision-making for both machines and people. Their Scientific AI-powered Decision Intelligence Platform, along with its suite of Process Optimisation Applications, is designed to stabilise plant operations, boost resource recovery, and lower operational costs.

By applying AI across mining and recycling operations, IntelliSense.io aims to make operations not just more efficient, but more adaptive, transparent, and ultimately more sustainable.

At the Innovation Village, IntelliSense.io will showcase real-world success stories, demonstrating how AI is unlocking measurable value across production, planning and forecasting.

“We’re excited to share real-world examples of how AI is being used in mining production operations across the globe — from material tracking and feed quality improvement at Australian gold sites to setpoint optimization for improving copper recovery at the world’s second largest copper operations in Chile,” Bose adds. “We’re also highlighting the broader vision of our platform: full material tracking from mine to port.”

Looking ahead, IntelliSense.io is placing a major focus on the circular economy, and seeking partnerships with recyclers, investors, and EU policymakers focused on critical raw materials resilience. A key focus for the company is BRACE (Battery Recycling App for the Circular Economy), an AI-driven tool designed to support smarter urban mining and secondary resource recovery. "We are especially interested in new deployments and investment to enhance BRACE and other platform features," Bose notes.

Yet challenges remain. “A major challenge is the slow pace of digital adoption in heavy industries, often due to legacy systems, fragmented data, and organisational silos,” Bose says. “Demonstrating the ROI of premium digital solutions — particularly those powered by AI — can also take time.”

However, with raw materials central to security and industrial competitiveness, IntelliSense.io is confident in the long game. By 2030, it envisions autonomous, fully integrated mining operations powered by AI agents capable of human-like planning and decision-making.

"Our goal is to support a resilient, efficient, and sustainable ecosystem for critical raw materials," Bose explains.

With Europe’s 2030 sustainability targets approaching fast—and the Critical Raw Materials Act now driving momentum— IntelliSense.io is well-positioned to be a key enabler of digital transformation and resource resilience. “We are helping strengthen Europe’s raw materials security, reducing dependency on imports, through smarter, data-driven technologies that are helping increase efficiency and production at each step of the raw materials value chain ,” adds Bose.
