EIT RawMaterials backed RE-SOURCING project invites you for a free webinar and virtual networking event on 24 October 2023.

Introduction
In the dynamic landscape of the global economy, securing a reliable and responsible supply of minerals and metals is of paramount importance for the European industry. The European Union is on a path towards a green transition, intensifying the demand for metals, and further emphasising the need for sourcing from diverse global destinations. While Africa emerges as a vital player in this equation, it also has strong ties with China, a dominant player in the global metal market.

The spotlight, however, falls on a lesser-known segment of the mining industry – artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). Collectively, these operations constitute a significant source of minerals and metals, including critical and strategic ones. This often-overlooked sector comes with its unique challenges, primarily stemming from the lesser scrutiny it faces compared to large-scale mining.

Despite these challenges, there has been substantial progress in recent years, driven by initiatives from both the public and private sectors, enhancing the responsible practices of the ASM sector. This webinar aims to shed light on this transformative journey.

The central goal of this webinar is to create awareness about the untapped potential of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) and non-listed midtier mining companies as reliable suppliers for the European industry. Additionally, it seeks to educate participants about various options that enable the EU-compliant import of products derived from ASM.
