With demand rising fast and Europe still facing major supply dependencies, closing the innovation gap has become a policy priority — reflected in the CRMA, the Clean Industrial Deal, RESourceEU, and the upcoming Advanced Materials Act.
The RMIS Science for Policy Forum is the EU's established annual meeting point for the European Commission, HaDEA, EU-funded research projects, academia, and industry to translate research into policy-relevant knowledge. The forum feeds directly into the Raw Materials Information System (RMIS), the Commission's reference platform on metals and minerals — helping scale up research outcomes and bring science closer to policy and business decisions.

- Policy panels on circularity and security of supply, a keynote on China's overseas investments in critical raw materials, and the latest JRC research feeding into the RMIS.
Day 2 — From Research to Business
- A dedicated track on turning research into market-ready solutions, with strong participation from EIT RawMaterials:
- David Merchin, Head of Business Intelligence, EIT RawMaterials — on the role of data and market transparency in driving innovation and growth across the raw materials value chain, and how EIT RawMaterials supports digitalisation-focused innovation
- Michel Vanavermaete, Central & West Regional Director, EIT RawMaterials — showcasing how EIT RawMaterials supports digitalisation on the ground: LCA, blockchain, digital twins, and predictive maintenance

David Merchin also moderates the day's interactive session connecting research goals with industry realities. The day closes with a look at advanced materials as a pathway to reducing EU dependencies in mobility, electronics, and construction.
