Aerial Insights provides end-to-end topographical services in cases that require drone data capture, data processing, and blueprinting, so the start-up’s customers receive finished land surveys. For companies with their solutions for data capture, Aerial’s services resolve the complexities of data processing, both photogrammetry and LIDAR, so that customers can focus on their core business. As a result, the development of Aerial’s Cart-O-Matic was supported via the Booster Call in response to the COVID-19 crisis in 2020. Cart-O-Matic is a technology that drastically changes the way land surveys, accurate volume estimates, profile estimation and work tracking are completed. For example, with this technology, customers of Aerial Insights can complete dozens of volume measurements in real-time. The results are extremely precise (errors are under 1% of the estimated volume) and are generated at a fraction of the cost of traditional alternatives.

Cart-O-Matic is also a very powerful reporting tool. Reports in multiple standard formats (DWG, Word, Excel, PDF…) can be automatically generated straight from the 3D processed data and downloaded seconds later. Companies which workflows rely on these files can continue using them without requiring new software licenses, upgrading their workstations or changing accepted methods.

New advanced service for the mining industry

Aerial Insights is now fully focused on the needs of the extractive industries. As such, the team offers services that use advanced toolset to complete the land surveys and legal paperwork that mining sites need to complete every year: from aerial images to Autocad blueprints, in a few hours, both reducing the time to the delivery of the results and the cost of existing solutions by an order or magnitude.

The start-up offers Cart-O-Matic’s technical development and initial commercial deployment by leveraging the strong expertise of Aerial Insights with drones for the extractive industries. In essence, the team tackles two industry demands yet to be solved:

• There is no software toolkit that provides the advantages of drones while resolving the challenging requirements of daily operations in busy mining sites. A secure, precise and affordable software platform that supports site managers in their daily activities (topography, measurements, tracking) with a clear emphasis on quick turnaround and no technical friction.
• Also, due to the limited availability of communication links/computation facilities frequently associated with these sites, Aerial Insights will build a self-contained solution that provides on-site drone topography without external dependencies: drone + best practices + processing + analytics, all enclosed in a rugged hardware appliance.
