In 2015, Composite Research Srl (CoRe) developed and patented a brand new multilayer composite material panel, called the MadFlex. Its unique combination of stiffness and flexibility, along with the possibility to modulate its resistance to traction and its lightness, enable to create highly efficient and innovative products, able to overcome the limits of existing solutions. Not only can the MadFlex replace fabrics and materials, but, thanks to its mechanical features, it can also simplify existing projects by abolishing the use of cables, junctions, and struts.

The MadFlex is a product on-demand: starting from customers’ requests and through an ad hoc R&D project, CoRe can create fully customized panels, using different kinds of materials and foams. In other words, from a single patented idea, we can obtain a thousand solutions.

The need

The MadFlex can be applied to any industrial segment that is looking for lighter, safer, easier to modulate materials, with a lower environmental impact.

The solution

MadFlex – A New Composite Material Panel – Madly Strong. Super Flex.

Value proposition

Thanks to its unique features, the MadFlex can significantly contribute to enhance the competitiveness of European manufacturers, e.g. in the automotive and aerospace sectors, targeting one of the the objectives of the EIT RawMaterials program “The Mobility of Tomorrow”, by offering a lightweight and outstanding solution (both technical, economic and environmental) overcoming limits of existing materials. Supporting its introduction to the market may allow the development of new products/projects unachievable so far, consequently creating new job opportunities and putting European companies in a leading position in the fast-growing composite materials market. Moreover, thanks to its infinite modularity, the MadFlex is a fertile ground also for academic R&D projects, aimed at better studying the potential of composites and their actual value in the production chains.
