Interested universities can apply to host a Raw Materials University Day in 2019!

Raw Materials University Days is an opportunity for partner universities to showcase their study programmes and activities while getting young people enthusiastic about raw materials and STEM study options. The call is now open for host universities in 2019!

This event series has been run by EIT RawMaterials since 2016 and has already reached more than 4500 participants in eight countries and across four Innovation Hubs (CLC’s), raising awareness of the huge potential of European raw materials and their importance for our everyday lives.

Activities at previous events have encouraged young people to study raw materials-related disciplines through interactive experiments, visits to industrial sites, laboratory tours, presentations from industry representatives and researchers, games, quizzes and much more. These activities not only showcase study options, but also encourage young people to consider the materials we use every day. In addition, they can see the opportunities for them in the dynamic and innovative raw materials sector – ultimately helping to boost sectorial competitiveness and sustainable growth, part of EIT RawMaterials mission.

Raising awareness of raw materials opportunities for young people

The host university must be a Core or Associate partner of EIT RawMaterials (or a Linked Third Party). The target audience is either young people that are choosing their studies (high school students) or future graduates (Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD) from all types of science and engineering disciplines.

This year, the RawMaterials Academy would particularly like to focus on Bachelor’s students, in order to make a link to our Master Education activities. Ideally, therefore, we would like to fund 2-3 events focusing on high school students and 3-4 events focusing on Bachelor’s students.
