Project duration: 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2020

Objective

Project TiSPHERO is aimed at upscaling and launching on the market of innovative technology based on plasma spheroidization for the production of spherical powders. It will be the first in the European Union process and installation to use low-cost titanium scrap, i.e. chips produced during mechanical treatment of titanium based structural components – waste material produced by European companies, instead of currently used expensive wire rod or irregular powders coming currently from outside EU.

The solution (technology)

The industrial partners KMWE, a Dutch company which is a reliable supplier and partner for the High Tech Equipment Industry and Aerospace, and specializes in the High Mix, Low Volume and High Complexity machining of functional critical Components and the assembly of fully tested mechatronic Systems, and CERTECH, a Polish company specializing in coatings made by thermal spraying processes, as a planned end-user of the powders will a key partner in evaluation of produced powders in industrial conditions.
