Danalto aims to make every IoT device reachable and locatable in a diverse set of environments
As anyone who has mislaid their mobile phone knows, trying to find it can be very frustrating. For example, mining companies with high value assets deep underground, the stakes are much higher if a piece of expensive equipment can’t be found fast and easily.
Start-up Danalto, supported by EIT RawMaterials, aims to be the gamechanger that will make it easy and cost effective for companies to track personnel and equipment in real time across a range of operating environments.
The opportunity Danalto has identified is in the detection of a person or asset’s location indoor or outdoor using minimal infrastructure and at a lower power than incumbent technologies. With this tool, users may see the full location history of their assets and understand their current location at a glimpse.
Albert Baker, Co-Founder of Danalto
As of now, asset tracking solutions are expensive and can be problematic and, for companies with high value assets or hazardous working environments, such as mining companies, the stakes are much higher if a piece of expensive equipment or an employee cannot be found. Keeping track on people and equipment in mines, over ground and underground, is highly critical for mining operations in terms of safety and productivity.
Contract with the European Space Agency
Founded in 2017, Danalto has raised just short of €3m in seed funding to date, and recently landed a major contract with the European Space Agency (ESA). With Danalto’s increasing prominence in the IoT field, they are delighted to announce another major contract with the European Space Agency (ESA).
It is the mission of EIT RawMaterials to create impact in the raw materials sector and we do this by supporting and bringing breakthrough innovations and new technology to market. Danalto is a great example of a start-up that we have supported through various programmes and which is now attracting serious investments.

First generation tracking system
The aim is to make every IoT device reachable and locatable using minimal infrastructure. This contrasts with existing solutions that require dense infrastructures that are difficult to deploy.
