EIT RawMaterials and the partners of VALOMAG project are delighted to invite you to attend the 1st VALOMAG seminar which will be held on 3 December 2021.

Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) based permanent magnets are indispensable for today’s technology-driven society, and this dependence is likely to increase. They are used in a variety of applications such as robotic systems and home appliances; they are also essential for clean energy applications such as hybrid/electric vehicles and wind turbines. Metals as neodymium and dysprosium have a substantial supply risk and a high commercial value, and the recycling of EoL products as waste NdFeB magnets is a promising route to alleviate the supply risk.

The VALOMAG project aims to supply a technical solution for recycling the permanent magnet disassembly from End-of-Life applications like computer hard disc drives, electric vehicles, and wind turbines. VALOMAG assesses two short loop recycling technologies for high and medium-quality magnet waste with a third alternative route using hydrometallurgical processes for low-quality waste magnets.

This seminar presents a technical and market overview of magnet recycling in the EU, with current R&I initiatives like the SUSMAGPRO project and the progress of the VALOMAG project.
