What 

In the 5 ECTS credits MIDICON doctoral level course we will study the structure and architecture of the plant automation and information systems emphasizing on the future automation systems in context of process systems and minerals engineering. Furthermore, the state of the art on process modelling and control in mineral processing will be covered. The course concludes with a discussion on the networking economy and modern business models for digital services and the platform economy in the raw materials sector. Course is supported by EIT RawMaterials funding.

Course leader: Professor Sirkka-Liisa Jämsä-Jounela, Aalto University, Finland.

Keynote lecturer: Professor Ian Craig, University of Pretoria, South Africa, IFAC Ex. President.

When and where 

  • 23-25 April 2018: kick-off event combined with the 3-day-MIDICON workshop in Levi, Lapland, Finland, including a visit to the European largest gold mine operated by Agnico Eagle Finland
  • Assignments
  • 11-13 September 2018: a 3-day MIDICON Summer camp in Aalto University, Finland
