The European Week of Regions and Cities will be held between 11 and 14 October 2021. On 13 October between 16.30 – 18.30 the HEI Initiative, along with the European Commission – JRC and The Policy Experimentation Evaluation Platform (PEEP), is co-organising a Participatory Lab session entitled “Building smart and sustainable regions: Entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education”.

The workshop’s objective is to present the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)’s offer to stakeholders from European regions and cities for the 2021-2027 period. It will take a closer look at innovation capacity-building, with a specific focus on the enhanced EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) and the new EIT HEI Initiative: Innovation Capacity Building for Higher Education, a project of the EIT community involving all eight Knowledge and Innovation Communities and led by EIT RawMaterials. It will also hold a debate on synergies between national, regional, and local initiatives, the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), and EIT community activities.
