Supporting innovative business ideas to foster the New European Bauhaus transformation

EIT Jumpstarter joins the New European Bauhaus, a creative initiative, breaking down boundaries between science and technology, art, culture and social inclusion, to find solutions for everyday problems. A new category has been introduced to the 2021 edition of the EIT Jumpstarter pre-accelerator programme. Along with the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the European Commission, the EIT Jumpstarter calls on designers, architects, engineers, scientists, students, entrepreneurs and creative minds across disciplines to reimagine beautiful, sustainable and inclusive ways of living in Europe and beyond.

All of the participating EIT Community members will patron five teams from the New European Bauhaus cohort for full immersion into the programme. The programme will upskill 30 project ideas connected to the New European Bauhaus theme from Central-Eastern and Southern-European regions, each EIT Community supporting 35 teams altogether.

With this extension, the EIT Jumpstarter will provide a cross-industrial approach for professionals in the crossroads between art, culture, social inclusion, science and technology, offering a 360˚ view on the project’s business model.

Creating a sustainable impact in Central-Eastern and Southern-European regions

The EIT Jumpstarter programme aims to create a sustainable impact in the Central-Eastern and Southern-European regions by boosting innovation and entrepreneurship within this part of Europe. The programme’s concept originates from the real needs of the innovation ecosystem of these regions. Countries have enormous innovation potential with bright scientific minds, but the research results are likely to remain within the labs. At the same time, there is a significant number of unmet needs from the corporate side.

To overcome these challenges, the EIT Community teamed up in the EIT Jumpstarter to connect innovative solutions with the industry’s demands from the industry and increase the competitiveness of our regions. The competition is organised by EIT RawMaterials, EIT Health, EIT Food, EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Manufacturing and EIT Urban Mobility. Our Innovation Communities bring together businesses, research centres and universities as partners creating a favourable environment for creative thought and innovation to flourish. We introduce teams to partners, investors, regulatory bodies and companies that can produce their products, be their first buyer or offer a test site. They meet major innovation hubs in Europe, which is important when they want to enter foreign markets.

EIT Jumpstarter is ideal for teams with innovative business ideas who want to jumpstart their company. With the contribution of best-in-class experts, creative community, unique know-how, the EIT Community aims to support idea-holders to turn their ideas into business. We help them build a viable business model around their innovative product or service idea, validate it and if their business idea is proven to be sustainable, we encourage them to register their company. The programme has trained 348 start-up teams since 2017, and in 2019 EIT Jumpstarter won the Best Association Training Initiative Award of the European Association Awards.

The application is open until 16 April 2021, and we encourage you to apply!
